Pulse SMS has a powerful per-conversation theme engine. By default, you can configure the color of the Conversation list and each individual conversation separately.
To configure the theme for the Conversation list, head to Settings > Theme.
To configure the theme for an individual conversation, open the conversation and head to Conversation/Group settings in the 3-dot overflow menu on the top right corner.
The per-conversation and Conversation list themes each have numerous colors available. They allow you to select the Primary Color, Primary Color Dark, and Accent Color:
- The Primary Color is the color of any received messages, as well as the toolbar.
- The Primary Color Dark is the color of the status bar.
- The Accent Color is used for links, as well as the floating action button
- The color of your sent messages always runs off the base theme. It is not given a colorful background like the received messages.
With the Base Theme setting (found in Settings > Theme), the app allows you to select a day/night theme that follows your phone's dark/night mode settings (via the System Default option), as well as other options namely Always Light, Always Dark and Always Black.
If you would like to apply a single set of colors to every conversation instead of using the per-conversation theme engine, you can do so by going to Settings > Theme and enabling the "Apply to all Conversations" option.
