Pulse SMS allows you to blocklist phone numbers or phrases. When a message comes in from a number that you have blocklisted, or if it contains a blocklisted phrase, it is placed in the Blocked messages folder, which you can access in the Android app’s side menu.
If you would rather store the messages and not get a notification for them, you could just mute that conversation instead.
To create a new BlockList item/entry, you can go to the BlockList section found in the side menu of the Android app or the web/desktop app. Then, hit the "+" icon on the bottom right. After that, you will be given the option to either blocklist by phone number or phrase.
If you receive a message from a contact that you want to blocklist, open the conversation, and then there is a BlockList contact option in the 3-dot menu on the top right.
Some additional notes about blocklisting a phrase:
- These phrases are not regular expressions (regex). They must be an exact match. This is for safety purposes and is not planned to change.
- These phrases are case-insensitive.
- There is no limit to the number of phrases you can blocklist.
- Do not blocklist a phrase unless you are sure that it is what you are trying to block. For example, blocklisting just an 'a' would discard any messages that contain 'a'.
- Blocklisting by phrase is an advanced feature. Please be aware of what you are doing.
Should you want to delete a blocklisted number/phrase, follow these steps:
- Go to the side menu (on the Android or web/desktop app) > BlockList.
- Tap the blocklisted item you want to delete.
- Confirm to delete the blocklisted item.
If you want to delete multiple blocklisted numbers/phrases, simply long-press one of them until additional options appear on the top bar. Then, select the other items, and once done, tap the trash bin icon on the top right. Please note that the option to delete multiple blocklisted items is only possible on the Android app for now.
