Pulse SMS allows you to blocklist phone numbers or phrases. When a message comes in from a number that you have blocklisted, it is discarded. If a message comes in that contains a phrase that you have blocklisted, it is discarded as well. These messages are not saved and are not viewable.
If you would rather store the messages and not get a notification for them, you could just mute that conversation instead.
To create a new BlockList item/entry, you can go to the BlockList section found in the side menu of the Android app or the web/desktop applications (the feature is called Blacklist on the web/desktop apps instead of BlockList). If you receive a message from a contact that you want to blocklist, open the conversation, then there is a BlockList contact option in the 3-dot overflow menu.
Some additional notes about blocklisting a phrase:
- If a message is received that contains this phrase, it is simply discarded immediately.
- These phrases are not regular expressions (regex). They must be an exact match. This is for safety purposes and is not planned to change.
- These phrases are case-insensitive.
- There is no limit to the number of phrases you can blocklist.
- Do not blocklist a phrase unless you are sure that it is what you are trying to block. For example, blocklisting just an 'a' would discard any messages that contain 'a'.
- Blocklisting by phrase is an advanced feature. Please be aware of what you are doing.
